Context This project was created as part of my studies at Yoobee Colleges. We were asked to create a typographic design inspired by a New Zealand icon. I choose the iconic Buzzy Bee toy.
Concept Development I played around with creating a basis for the font. I wanted to reflect the toy's iconic colours and rounded shapes in my typographic design. I also developed the first alphabet, with several alternate versions of more difficult letters.
Concept Finalisation I settled on the final version of the lowercase alphabet and created a matching uppercase alphabet. I also created a design to go with the buzzy bee text. I wanted the letters to be dotted randomly around the page and be connected with the dotted line, reminiscent of a buzzy bee's meandering path, and also the string the children pull the toy with.
Mock Ups I finished the project by creating some mock ups of the design on a children's t-shirt. Software Skills I created the font and buzzy bee icon in Adobe Illustrator so that the graphics would be scaleable vector graphics. I created an accompanying process document in Adobe InDesign
